FAQ

What is the maximum people allowed for a team?

There's not a maximum number but in our experience teams up to 4-5 people usually work best since the coordination it's easier.

I don’t have a team, can I participate alone?
Sure! But we encourage you to find teammates that complement your skills. If you're strength is software development, go find someone that has expertise in business, marketing or design.

What is the official language of the Hackathon?
All participations and communications must be in English.

Do I have to use Digital Trust protocol for my project?
It's not mandatory, you are free to use whatever fits best for your idea/project according to the challenge but using the Digital Trust protocol is one of the 5 criteria judges will be assessing the project by.

I'm not a developer, can I still participate?
Yes, everyone is welcome, and part of the challenge is coming up with new ideas where digital trust is key. BUT having a working prototype and using the Digital Trust protocol are part of the judging criteria.

Are there any sample code/examples I can play with before starting?
Of course! On Resources tab, you will also find some examples, how-to’s, and recommendations. If you don’t find what you’re looking for, please share your question with the rest of participants on Discussions's section or reach out the team in Slack or by email.

Is it valid to integrate DT protocol into an existing app?  Or we should build the app totally from scratch?
You don’t need to start anything from scratch. You can use an existing app (built by yourself or having the rights to do so), and update it by adding DT capabilities. That’s a great hack!

Would it be some support?
Of course! There will be Slack channels available and a discussion section on Devpost. Also you can contact us by email: developwithus@gruposantander.com

Would there be any complementary activities (Short talks, demos, sessions) during the Hackathon?
Yes! Check the schedule tab for dates when Digital Trust team will be having live webinars on how to use the protocol and office hours for you to ask questions.

When will the winners be announced?
Yes! Winner will be announced on December 17th.

If my team wins in any of the challenges, how are we going to get the prize?
Once the winners are announced, we'll get in touch with the team leader by email and share next steps.

Do I need to deliver a complete and functional application?
No, but if you do, you will have a higher score. Check the judging criteria and requirements for more info.

Is it free?
Yes!

Will there be any training?
Yes, we’ll have a webinar on how the protocol works lead by Digital Trust team.

It’s mandatory to do a presentation or a pitch?
Yes, when submitting your idea you’ll need to share at least two of these three deliverables: slide deck, video presentation or public code repo. Check submission requirements.

Can I use or monetize my application/idea?
For sure! The app and idea are yours. If you decide to take it to the market, let us know in case we can help!

Can I use Santander Logo in my application?

You can use the Logo in the context of this hackathon and as part of your demo and submission but it should not be used externally in any way so best approach will be to ensure you are removing the logo once the hackathon ends.

You will find more information in the Bank's Branding Guidelines here.
